Terms of use
These terms cover Toonality accounts, the photo studio, movies, and credits during our limited preview. By creating an account or using the studio, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy & support page, which explains what we store and for how long.
Who can use Toonality
You must be 13 or older to have a Toonality account. If you are 13 to 17, you may use Toonality only with the permission of your parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these terms for you. We ask your age when you sign in and note your answer in Account settings, where you can update it. Some features are for grown-ups (18 or older) only: buying credits, recording a real voice, and matching a child’s voice for an actor. Your account is for you alone: keep your password private, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
Your photos
- Only upload photos you took yourself or have the right to use.
- You need permission from every person pictured. For anyone under 18, that means permission from their parent or legal guardian.
- Do not upload photos of celebrities, public figures, or anyone else in order to make images of them without their permission.
You keep the rights you have in your photos. You allow Toonality to store them and process resized copies when you ask for a toon, a scene, a movie, ideas, or a safety check, only so we can provide what you asked for.
What you may not create
Do not use Toonality to create or request:
- sexual or nude content of anyone, or any content that sexualizes or endangers children;
- violence, threats, harassment, bullying, or hate;
- images meant to impersonate, deceive, or embarrass a real person, or that present an invented event as real;
- anything illegal, or anything that uses someone else's trademarks, logos, or artwork without permission.
Toonality's safety checks may decline a photo or a request. A declined request returns its credits. We may remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and we report content that exploits children to the appropriate authorities.
Actors, voices and the microphone
- Only make an actor from a person, pet or character you have the right to use, and only with the permission of the person pictured (for anyone under 18, their parent or legal guardian).
- Only record your own voice, or a grown-up’s voice with their permission. A child’s voice may be matched to an actor only by their parent or legal guardian.
- The lines you give an actor to say follow the same rules as everything else you create: see What you may not create above.
- When you make a new place for an actor, its picture and name are shared with everyone on Toonality so others can film their actors there too. Places never show people, and don’t ask for one based on private details.
The images and movies you create
Toons, scenes and movies are made by artificial intelligence. Results vary, may not look exactly like the people pictured, and may contain mistakes; in a movie, people and things can change a little as they move. Downloaded images can carry metadata identifying them as AI-generated. You may download and use the images and movies you create for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, as long as you follow these terms and respect the people pictured. Ask us before any other use.
Storage
We keep your photos and the images and movies made from them 45 days after you upload them or last create a new image from them, then remove them. Download anything you want to keep; we do not promise to recover images after they are removed.
Credits
During the preview, credit purchases use Stripe test mode and no real money is charged. Test credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and end when you delete your account. When real payments begin, the refund policy below applies.
Refunds
- Unused credits, within 14 days. Email us from the address on your account within 14 days of a purchase and we will refund the credits from that purchase you have not used, at the price you paid per credit. If you have bought more than once, your most recent purchase counts as the unused one.
- Used credits are not refundable once an illustration, scene or movie has been made with them.
- Movies hold their credits while they are being made. The credits are used only when the movie is ready; if it can't be made, they return to your balance automatically.
- Images that can't be made (Toonality's safety check declines a photo, or a request is rejected) return their credits to your balance automatically. Uncertain outcomes are held, not spent, until we check them.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe, usually within 5–10 business days, and the refunded credits are removed from your balance.
- Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under the law where you live.
The preview
Toonality is an early preview. Features, prices, and limits may change, and the service may be paused or stopped. We provide it as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, lost data, or images you did not download.
Ending your account and changes to these terms
You can delete your account at any time in Account settings. We may update these terms; the date below changes when we do, and we will tell signed-in customers about significant changes before they apply.
